Using Scoring Tokens to Score Games
Scoring tokens allow anybody to score a game. Scoring tokens do not expire, do not change and can be used as many times as necessary by any number of people.
Scoring tokens are sent to all teams and organizations at the beginning of the season.
Types of Scoring Tokens
- Organization scoring tokens can be used to score all games within an organization
- A game is considered within an organization if the game's home or away team is part of the organization
- These scoring tokens always start with an
O
- This makes it easier if you manage multiple teams and don't want to keep track of multiple team scoring tokens
- Team scoring tokens can be used to score all games for a specific team
- A game is for a specific team if the game's home or away team is the team
- A team is specific to a season + division
- These scoring tokens always start with a
T
Redeeming Scoring Tokens
- Navigate to the game you would like to score
- Press the
Enter Scoring Access Token
button - If you have an account enter a valid scoring access token, email, password and press
Login & Score Game
- You can press

Signup & Score Game
then enter a valid scoring access token, first name, last name, email, password, accept the terms and conditions and pressSignup & Score Game

The following are considered valid scoring tokens.
- Home team's scoring token
- Away team's scoring token
- Home team's organization scoring token
- Away team's organization scoring token
Types of Scorekeepers
General Scorekeepers
A user that has used or intends to use scoring tokens to grant themselves scoring access to games.
Scoring tokens allow a user to become a scorekeeper for a specific game, if the user already has an account they can log in otherwise they will be asked to signup.
Scoring tokens grant you scoring access to one game at a time.
Organization Scorekeepers
A user that automatically has access to score all games within an organization. A game is considered within an organization if the game's home or away team is part of the organization.
Please reach out to our support if you would like to become a scorekeeper for an organization or organizations.
Team Scorekeepers
A user that automatically has access to score all games for a specific team. A game is for a specific team if the game's home or away team is the team.
If you are a team scorekeeper for the '23-'24 10U Milner IceCats you will NOT be a team scorekeeper for the '24-'25 10U Milner IceCats unless you are set as a team scorekeeper for the new season.

League Scorekeepers
A user that can be assigned as a game scorekeeper for any game in the league but does not have access to any games by default. Must be assigned to games by admins or other scorekeepers.

In-Depth Scorekeeping Overview
Game Details
- You can view general game details such as start datetime, end datetime, game type and more
Only league admins can update general game details at this time.
Periods
Adding a period
- Press
Add Period
- Set the name, duration (in minutes) and leave the status blank for now
- You can update the status while scoring the game
- Press

You can add periods after starting a game (OT1, OT2, etc).
Editing a period
- Press the dropdown arrow next to the relevant period
- Press

or quickly select a new status right from the dropdown - Update name, duration (in minutes), status as you wish

You won't be able to edit a period's duration after starting a game. If no goals, penalties or shots have been created for a period you can delete the period and create it again, setting the desired duration.
Consider a goal happening at 19:33 in a period. If the period duration is changed from 20 mins to 15 mins that goal would refer to a non-existent time. The platform would need to prompt the scorekeeper to update all goal + penalty times which would be more tedious for scorekeepers.
Deleting a period
- Press the dropdown arrow next to the relevant period
- Press
Delete
You won't be able to delete a period that has shots, goals or penalties tied to it.
Players
Setting home and away team game rosters

to select all players - Removing a player will only remove them from this game's roster and not the team's roster
- Choose starting goalies for each team
- Changes are saved automatically
You cannot change the players after starting a game.
We do not currently allow adding players that are not in the system since this would allow scorekeepers to modify the team's roster. Organizations and teams need to ensure paperwork is signed, etc before officially adding a player to a team's roster.
Please reach out to the league administrator or our support if you a player needs to be added.
Coaches
Setting home and away team game coaches

- Search coaches one by one, there's no limit to the number of coaches you can add
- Removing a coach will only remove them from this game and not the system as a whole
- Set the coach's position for the game (Head Coach or Assistant Coach), there's no limit to the number of Head or Assistant coaches
- At least one coach per team is required
- Changes are saved automatically
You cannot change the coaches after starting a game.
We do not currently allow adding coaches that are not in the system.
Please reach out to the league administrator or our support if you need a coach added.
Referees

- Search referees one by one, there's no limit to the number of referees you can add
- Removing a referee will only remove them from this game and not the system as a whole
- Set the referee's position for the game (no changes will be saved until you do this)
- At least one referee is required
You cannot change the referees after starting a game.
We do not currently allow adding referees that are not in the system.
Please reach out to the league administrator or our support if you need a referee added.
Scorekeepers
Setting additional scorekeepers (optional)
You likely won't need to use this, it's reserved for rare cases where a league-wide scorekeeper is assigned to a game

- Removing a scorekeeper will only remove them from the game and not the system as a whole

Shots
Adding/deleting multiple shots for a period
- Press the
Edit
button located under theShots
header - Set the desired number of shots by team and period
- Don't count shots for any goals that have been scored, they will be automatically added for you
- The number of

is displayed for each period for your convenience

Adding a single shot for a period
- Ensure an active period is set, shots are added for the active period

Deleting a single shot for a period
- Ensure an active period is set, shots are deleted for the active period

Goals
Adding a goal
- Press the
Add XYZ goal
button for the appropriate team - Fill in the time the goal was scored
- The active period (if set) and team will be pre-selected
- Fill in the scorer and optionally assist1 + assist2
- Choose the type of the goal, i.e. Even Strength, Power Play, Shorthanded, Penalty Shot
- If you chose a Power Play or Shorthanded goal select the appropriate penalty
- Optionally choose if it was an empty net goal
- Press
Add
- A shot is automatically added for you
- A shot is automatically added/edited/deleted for you when you add/edit/delete a goal

- The active period (if set), team, penalty (if selected from the dropdown), duration (if selected from the dropdown) will be pre-selected

- Input a duration
- Choose the appropriate severity
- If a penalty is not listed you will have the option to

Editing a penalty

Substitutions
Adding a substitution

Scratch Pad
Use this as a catch-all or place to jot down a series of game events if they happen too fast.
The scratch pad automatically saves shortly after you are done typing, you can also opt to save manually.
If you lose internet you can also write down game events here until you come back online.
The scratch pad will be included in the exported PDF and will be visible to anybody.
Collecting Signatures and Completing the Game
- Ensure all penalties and periods have been marked as

FAQs
Do I need an account?
Yes, you can sign up for an account when using a scoring access token to score a game.
How do I become a scorekeeper?
Ask your organization or team for the unique scoring token provided to them at the start of the season and follow these instructions.
How do I start a game?
- Login
- On the top of your screen select
Leagues
-> Choose your league - Locate the game you would like to start by using the available filters
- Press
View
- Set the players, remember to set a starting goalie
- Set the coaches, you must add at least one coach per team
- Set the referees, you must add at least one referee
- Assign additional game scorekeepers (optional)
- Create periods, you must create at least the 1st period but can always add additional periods during the game
- Press

- Acknowledge the note by pressing

- You can now take score!
How do I score a game?
The game events you input will be streamed live to anybody that is viewing the game!
(not including the scratch pad, that's solely for scorekeepers)
- Start the game if it hasn't been started already
- Set the active period, shots are tied to a given period so you must set an active period before adding/removing shots
- Add/remove shots
- Add/edit/remove goals (a shot will be added/edited/removed for you automatically)
- Add/edit/remove penalties
- Add/remove periods (OT1, etc)
- Jot down additional information in the built-in scratch pad
- When you are ready to complete the game ensure all periods and penalties are marked as

Do I need to score the game live?
No, you can choose to score the game live or with a paper scoresheet. If you choose a paper scoresheet you will need to input goals, penalties, etc into the platform when the game is over.
What if I lose internet while scoring a game?
The platform is resilient to internet loss but does require internet to function. If you lose internet while adding a goal, etc a red banner will show up notifying you that you are offline and any pending changes will be saved in your browser. Once internet is restored any pending changes will be sent to our servers.
Do not refresh the page after you come back online since it will take a few seconds to save pending changes.
Use the built-in scratch pad to keep track of game events while you are offline.
Anybody viewing the game won't receive live game updates until your connection is restored.
I'm a game scorekeeper for a game but I'm not scoring it, why don't I receive live updates?
If you are viewing a game/scoresheet and happen to be a game scorekeeper but aren't the one scoring you will not receive live updates.
You can simply log out of your account and navigate back to the specific game/scoresheet to receive live updates.
